Patriots At Pasadena

Marine Sergeant Adam Flynn, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) whose military career began in 2003 as a “calling,” leads the Patriots at Pasadena tournament. He founded the tournament to move forward from post-service personal battles with alcohol and depression—issues that can affect veterans facing challenges common during transition from military to civilian life.

Overcoming what he calls “his demons” with the support of his wife, Flynn combined two passions, golf and the USMC, to create the first veterans tournament, “Swings for Service,” in 2017. Over the past four years, with the help of Joe Driscoll, chair of the “Patriots at Pebble, Marines Hit the Beach” benefit tournament, Flynn has been able to expand the tournament into today’s “Patriots at Pasadena” event.

“The golf tournament helped me grow as an individual,” Flynn said, noting the opportunity to assist other veterans has been invaluable. “We hope other veterans will come out to enjoy the amenities the club offers as well as the camaraderie and support of other former military.”

According to Flynn, who is also the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club golf course superintendent, total contributions to the sold-out veterans charity event with 144 golfers have already exceeded a $100,000 goal. He believes the Patriots at Pasadena Charity Golf Tournament is set for long-term success.

“I’ve hit a level I never expected to reach. I know this money will help struggling veterans just like me. I’m so grateful and proud of that. The veterans in attendance will feel a love and level of patriotism they never knew existed. That’s what it’s all about,” added Flynn.
